Netiquette on the portal

• Please communicate with others in a friendly way.
• Describe yourself, your vehicle, your driving style and anything else relevant to a shared trip, and upload photos. This builds trust.
• Provide clear information to avoid unnecessary questions and misunderstandings.
• It is courteous to reply to requests even when a carpool cannot—or can no longer—be arranged.
• Delete invalid entries or keep them up to date.
• Review everyone you have contacted.
• If someone behaves inappropriately, please let us know.

Arranging carpools

• Never arrive at a meeting point without agreeing it in advance, based only on the details in an offer.
• Always make contact through the portal beforehand, either in writing or by calling the number shown in the contact details.
• Confirm all relevant details personally:
  • the route and any detour
  • the meeting point and exact drop-off point
  • date and time
  • maximum waiting time if someone is delayed
  • contribution to travel costs (Agree a reasonable fare. Commercial offers do not belong on our portal, and an apparently commercial fare may affect insurance cover.)
• Exchange any other useful information, such as:
  • phone numbers
  • descriptions of people and the vehicle—a free MiFaZ sticker can help you recognise one another
• Agree any other wishes and rules that matter to you before the trip, such as smoking, breaks or music.

Behaviour during shared trips

• Be punctual.
• Cancel if you cannot drive or travel as planned.
• Be friendly.
• Respect other participants who want to take reasonable safety precautions before entering an unfamiliar car or allowing unfamiliar people into their vehicle. These might include showing proof of insurance, a driving licence or identification, or telling a third party the departure time, place and vehicle registration.
• Drive safely, responsibly and within the speed limit.
• Keep the vehicle roadworthy.
• Carry a first-aid kit, warning triangle and high-visibility vests.
• Do not overload the vehicle.
• The driver should have the final say about rules inside the vehicle, such as smoking.
• Review the driver or passengers after the trip.
• If you have a bad experience, please report it to us.
